The book’ Langar gapp’ author ,Dr major Himanshu is an ex army Short Service Commission medical officer. A decorated soldier for his distinguished services in Uri, Siachen and Kargil War. He is a socio political activist, agriculturist ,columnist and a public speaker .

His articles on socio political issues and short stories are regularly published in various newspapers and magazines since two decades. he believes in amalgamating traditional values and wisdom with modern progressive ideas and has a natural appetite for policy matters.

He is presently actively associated with many agricultural,environmental, social organisations and conflict resolution movements. He is national convenor of ‘Gangajal biradari ‘ and as national secretary ,’Kisan Manch’ was jailed for a month in July 2006 fighting for the farmers cause during anti land acquisition movement in Uttar Pradesh.

He contested 2014 Lok Sabha elections and is a social democrat who sees plurality and diversity of the country as its strength and believes in inclusiveness.
He hails from Meerut , Uttar Pradesh.

In sikh tradition the langer feeds one and anyone without discrimination .

Langar not merely fills the belly it nourishes the soul as well. Langar Gapp is casual gossip, mostly prattling .it can be footle bragging but never it is pernicious rumour peddling . At worst it is cribbing and tattletaling but that to for sure is the drug of choice for combat stress catharsis.

Inarguably ‘gupshup ‘,’gapp baazi’ or gossip is an international tradition and a national addiction . perhaps that is where from the art of story telling and civilizations evolved .
